Namesake

C. C. Mason, the namesake of Leander ISD's fifth elementary school, was the founder of the Bagdad community. According to local historian Karen Thompson, C. C. Mason was the largest land owner of the area, and surveyed most of the surrounding countryside.

Mason was also instrumental in starting the Bagdad school, which subsequently became the Leander School and then the Leander Independent School District. Perhaps his most important legacy is hiring the first school teacher for the local public school.

Our campus was dedicated on Sept. 6, 1994. We enjoy a close relationship with our surrounding community and strive for excellence in all we do.
